Make Public Education the Top Priority in the Ohio Budget
Congratulations to our students and thank you to our educators and families for another year of growth and development in our public schools.
At the very moment that we celebrate this annual transition, the state budget that will define opportunities for the next two years, is being debated and shaped in the Ohio Senate.
Next Wednesday, May 31 at 9:00 AM the Senate Finance Committee will hear public testimony on education funding.
Show your support for public education, submit testimony. (Link to our guide on how to submit testimony HERE)
It can be short and personal. But every voice is needed pressure lawmakers to stay on track. They have a true remedy if they adopt it and fund it. You submit testimony via email 24 hours ahead of the hearing.
The ask is simple:
- Adopt and fully fund the Fair School Funding Plan,
- Use 2022 cost data to establish the funding level that school districts will be guaranteed.
- Keep the Fair School Funding formula as passed by the House, funding at least the second two years of increased investment.
Without using updated data – cost increases will continue to be carried by local taxpayers. The state legislature will once again fail to invest adequate state resources in this critical public institution that has to be their priority in this budget.
Without this change, public education and the public will be deprived of a state spending that is fair, adequate, and equitable.

Thanks for taking a few minutes to submit testimony or a huge thank you if you decide to give testimony in person. We understand there are so many issues in politics right now, but we are trying to focus on one issue – funding.
