Since joining, have participated in five separate troop/patrol activities
(other than meetings), two of which included a campout.
While camping with the troop, select your patrol site and sleep in
a tent that you have pitched. Explain why you chose that site.
Citizenship
Participate in a flag ceremony for your school, religious institution,
chartered organization, community, or troop activity.
Participate in an approved (minimum of 1 hour) service project.
Cooking
Discuss when it is appropriate to use a cooking for and a stove. Explain
safety procedures for both.
Build and light a cooking fire using not more than two matches.
Demonstrate how to light at least 2 different kinds of camping stoves.
Explain how season and activity level factor into creating an appropriate
menu. Give some examples of well-balanced meals.
On a campout, assist with meal planning, preparation, and clean-up.
Tell how to store, transport, and prepare the foods you selected.
First Aid/Safety
Demonstrate first aid for the following: Bite of a suspected rabid
animal, Puncture wound from a splinter nail or fish hook, Serious burns
(2nd degree), Object in the eye,Heat exhaustion, Shock, Heat stroke,
Dehydration, Hypothermia, Hyperventilation
Show what to do for "hurry" cases of stopped breathing,
serious bleeding and internal poisoning.
Prepare a personal first aid kit to take with you on a hike. Explain
why you packed the items you chose.
Recite and explain the Safe Swim Defense Plan.
Tell what to do in case of an accident.
Fitness
Jump feet first into water over your head in depth, level off and
swim 25 yards on the surface, stop, turn sharply, resume swimming, the
return to your starting place**
Demonstrate water rescue methods by reaching with your arm or leg,
by reaching with an object, and by throwing lines. Explain and discuss
the orders of methods of water rescue (especially how and why to avoid
contact with a victim)
Participate in an approved school, community, or troop program on
the dangers of using drugs, alcohol, and tobacco, and other practices
that could be harmful to your health. Discuss your participation in
the program with your family.
Hiking
Demonstrate how a compass works and how to orient a map. Explain what
map symbols mean.
Using a compass and a map together, take a 5 mile hike (or 10 miles
by bike) approved by an adult troop leader and your parent or guardian.
On a map, point out 10 different symbols, including contour lines.
Tell what they represent.
Nature
Identify or show evidence of at least 10 kinds of wild animals (birds,
mammals, reptiles, fish and mollusks) found in your community.

Scoutmaster Conference
Participate in a Scoutmaster Conference where, as part of the discussion,
be prepared to talk about your level of "Scout Spirit" as exemplified
by your attitude and level of participation in Troop and Patrol activities.
Be further prepared to discuss your leadership skills.
