Summer Camp in North Carolina 2004

42 boys and 14 adults traveled to the western part of North Carolina, near Mount Mitchell for a weeklong summer camp in the mountains. Scouts walked from the Blue Ridge Parkway the last 3 or 4 miles into camp to set up on a Sunday. On Monday we stayed in camp to do projects and get oriented. Tuesday and Wedsnesday were devoted to patrol outings: rafting and climbing, canoeing, visiting an Indian Reservation and the Great Smokey Mountains, as well as Tubing and sightseeting on Roan Mountain. Thursday was spent in camp providing service to our hosts, the Arthur Morgan School, a raft competition, and the 3rd annual Iron Chef competition. On Friday Scouts were given choices for field trips; Tubing, Sliding Rock and Looking Glass Falls, and hikes on Mount Mitchell. On Saturday we started for home.
